The Thales Safenet IDPrime 930 is a Javacard for which a minidriver is loaded via Windows Update and can then be used immediately via the Microsoft Base Smart Card Cryptographic Service Provider (MS Base SC CSP). The Thales SafeNet (formerly Gemalto) IDPrime 930 can therefore be used in the same way as the Gemalto MD830 or earlier the Gemalto .NET
The IDPrime card is optimally supported in Microsoft environments, since the IDPrime chip card is used via the Microsoft Base Smart Card CSP. The required MiniDriver (card module) for the MS Base Smart Card CSP, which provides the required card-specific information about the card, is installed via Windows Update when the card is first inserted.
Otherwise, the pin management works like a password change in Windows. A PIN is unlocked using a challenge-response procedure in accordance with Microsoft specifications; the response can be calculated using free tools or using a card management system.
