The contactless MIFARE DESFire EV3 IC is ideal for system operators and developers to build reliable, interoperable and scalable solutions. The third generation of the industry-leading MIFARE DESFire family offers superior performance, security and enhanced support for multiple applications.
The MIFARE DESFire EV3 chip card brings a number of advantages for the end user. Cardholders can use the card for several applications at the same time, such as ticketing, as a student ID card, for access control or for loyalty programs. The new chip is compatible with the cloud-based service MIFARE 2GO for mobile ticketing.
System providers can now use third-party applications via the innovative MIsmartApp function without having to share the master key. The number of applications is only limited by the available memory.
Compared to the previous version, the DESFire EV3 offers some new features. A transaction timer makes it possible to specify a maximum duration per transaction for each application. If the timer expires before a transaction is complete, the changes are rolled back and the current transaction is aborted. This function is used to defend against man-in-middle attacks.
As another new feature, the EV3 includes the new security function Secure Unique NFC (SUN). The SUN function ensures that every time the chip is read, a unique code is generated, ensuring confidentiality and integrity of data transmission.
